On steep tovery steep slopes (21 to 35 degrees), apart fromsafety considerations, soil disturbance by wheeledor tracked vehicles is environmentallyunacceptable. Here, cable haulers or sky-linesshould be used. Helicopters provide the least siteimpact on steep terrain but are costly, so it isunusual for them to be used to log pines.
